Allomothering: other/different mother.
Allomothering means to become a different kind of mother, one who mothers from within.
*Allomothering is a practice of elephants. When a calf is born, elephants surround it to take care of the calf, while mom forages for more resources like food or better shelter for her family. These elephants are called Allomothers meaning other, different mother. In Allomothering as therapy, we offer an alternative to self-sacrificial mothering, a different kind of mothering of self and others. We support people who identify as nurturers with or without children. They get to be true to themselves by standing on a new foundation.
